Elizabeth Hernandez joined Corteva AgriscienceTM, Agriculture Division of DowDupontTM, on March 1st, 2018, as Head of Government Affairs, Asia Pacific, and as an integral member of its Asia Pacific Leadership Team. She will play a pivotal role in advancing the company’s brand and reputation in the region, as it prepares to spin off from DowDuPont in 2019.
With over 25 years’ professional experience in Asia, Elizabeth has established herself as one of the region’s leading government affairs and public policy executives. She is also an accomplished entrepreneur, with experience throughout the business enterprise. She brings to her public affairs role an unusual combination of communications skills, commercial instincts and thought leadership in a variety of disciplines and from several industries.
Prior to joining Corteva AgriscienceTM, Elizabeth was head of public policy for Asia Pacific at Facebook (2015-17), vice president of corporate affairs for Asia Pacific at Hewlett-Packard (2010-15) and regional director of government and public affairs at GlaxoSmithKline (2005-10). In addition to her multinational experience, Elizabeth also has worked for the US-ASEAN Business Council, a non-profit trade association promoting US trade and investment in Southeast Asia, in both Singapore and Washington D.C., where she started her career.
Elizabeth also experienced start-up life and helped pioneer broadband connectivity for business travelers when she co-founded I-Quest Corporation in Hong Kong in 1996. She served as the company’s vice president for sales and marketing and later as its chief operating officer.
Elizabeth also serves on the Boards of several non-profit organizations. For the past six years, she served two terms as Vice Chair and elected member of the Board of Governors of Amcham Singapore and as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Canada-based HOPE International Development Agency. She recently joined the board of WOMAG (Women in Agribusiness) and the Sustainable Rice Platform, and is also a member of the Corporate Engagement Council of Save The Children. Elizabeth is also a founding member of KeyNote – Asia’s Online Directory of Women Speakers.
Elizabeth is a passionate advocate, and a frequent speaker, on empowering women, technology entrepreneurship and creating shared value. She hopes to bring the same passion to women in agriculture and agriculture innovation.
Elizabeth received a B.A. in History (cum laude) from the University of the Philippines, and studied International Affairs at the American University School of International Service in Washington, D.C. She currently lives in Singapore with her husband and three children.
