Grow Asia Learning Alliance (GALA): Navigating Business Partnerships

Scaling the impact of your agriculture research together with business.

When: 4-5 November 2019*
Where: Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) Headquarters, Los Baños, Philippines
*Exact timing TBC

The fragmentation of different sources of research expertise in ASEAN makes it difficult for valuable findings to be applied in agriculture value chains. To address this issue, Grow Asia established the Grow Asia Learning Alliance (GALA) – to help knowledge producers like yourself connect with stakeholders in the value chain, while providing you with tools to navigate partnerships with business.

The agribusiness network that makes up 50% of Grow Asia’s member base is our unique value proposition. We have agribusinesses within our network who are interested in reaching out to the research community to seek out new innovations, despite having their own research and development (R&D) departments.

Through GALA, Grow Asia is committed to enabling more partnerships between knowledge producers and agribusinesses in ASEAN to scale the impact of agriculture research in the region.

We are looking for knowledge producers who are interested in helping to further this mission. If you are an agricultural researcher with a research product in pilot phase (or almost ready to be) – and you are interested in pursuing partnerships with agribusinesses, this training offers a unique opportunity for you to achieve that.

The Facilitator

Grow Asia is a multi-stakeholder partnership platform established by the World Economic Forum and the ASEAN Secretariat. Our objective is to catalyze action on inclusive and sustainable agricultural development in Southeast Asia. We do this by helping smallholder farmers gain better access to finance, markets, and technical capacity to increase their yields and livelihoods, through facilitating collaborations between stakeholders using a market driven approach. Over the last three years, we have had significant success in establishing a network of over 500 stakeholders through 44 Working Groups/Task Forces that reach over 1.2 million farmers in five countries: Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar, Philippines and Cambodia.
