Empowering Women in the Food and Agriculture Ecosystem in Asia Pacific

Women in Agribusiness Asia (WOMAG), in partnership with Corteva Agriscience™, is proud to present a special event on Empowering Women in the Food and Agriculture Ecosystem in Asia Pacific, featuring Cherrie Atilano, CEO and Founding Farmer, AGREA Agricultural Systems, who will be joining us from the Philippines to share her insights and experience from working with women farmers in Siargao, among others. Following the conversation and Q&A with Cherrie Atilano, WOMAG will be launching the first Survey on Gender Diversity in the Agribusiness Sector in Asia Pacific.

Join us at the Corteva Agriscience™ Asia Pacific headquarters for this special event.

Tuesday, August 13, 2019, from 5:00 PM
Venue: 21 Biopolis Road #07-21 Nucleos South Tower, Singapore 138567

About Cherrie Atilano and AGREA
Cherrie Atilano is CEO and founding farmer of AGREA, an agro-social enterprise that aims to help eradicate poverty for farming and fishing families in the Philippines. The company is working with farmers through (1) Agripreneurship, teaching farmers how to be entrepreneurs, (2) Agritech, digitalising agriculture and introducing climate change mitigated technologies for farm use, and (3) Agritourism, creating sustainable and diversified source of income for the farmers and their families.

On February 23rd, 2019, 700 people participated in the “More Love for Women Farmers” conference held in Siargao. It was by far the largest gathering of women farmers in the Philippines. The conference was organized by AGREA, with the support of the local government units. Together, they aim to make Siargao the first women-led agriculture island in the Philippines.

About WOMAG Survey on Gender Diversity in the Agribusiness Sector
Over the past six months, WOMAG has been working with a third-party consultant, Collective17, to commission a survey to gain insights into gender diversity in the agribusiness sector. It aims to enquire about workplace environments, company policies, career progression, gender discrimination, as well as the initiatives that companies can take to address the barriers to gender equality in the workplace. As far as we know, this would be the first gender diversity survey of the agribusiness sector in Asia Pacific. The survey is generously supported by Corteva Agriscience™.
